Paintings about Taipei (2001-2004)

My past creation was centered in the subjects of the “City”. During my four years in university, I wandered around Taipei to take pictures of traces which humans left in the city, such as children’s handwriting, torn posters, and the chaos of dark tunnels. I integrated these fragments with the computer to form new images. From the beginning, I deformed, twisted and tore the fragments to try the possibility of images. Then, my self-consciousness and emotional projection such as hopes and remembrances were added into my works. More and more subjective affections progressively led to abstract works. After 2005, I started creating the series of “City in Armageddon (2005-2006)”. It was an expression of my comments about the urban ecology in Taiwan and the critiques of man-made space.
